On Sunday Carmen Bajo had quite a dramatic day. A music group from Riobamba came to the church to lead worship. They stayed in the Compassion Centre. The van they were using was parked outside (I imagine on the steep road) when the brakes failed and it crashed into the first house over the hill.
Amazingly, nobody was hurt. The people in the house had just left 2 minutes before the crash. As you can see from the photo, they would have been in serious trouble.
The driver of the van was terrified. The police and the home owners were ready to press charges. Although the church has no legal responsibility, they stepped in and have offered to fix the house. The architect was already out to help guide them. Even the newspapaer quoted that the church is going to help re-build. What an amazing testimony to the community!
